Man poisons wife to death in Khanewal

The women, who were giving a bath to the body, noticed torture marks and green colour froth at the mouth

A man allegedly poisoned his wife to death over a family dispute in Kabirwala Town, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Zahid Hussain, a resident of Kakar Hatta, allegedly mixed poison in a meal and gave it to his 32-year-old wife Sajida Bibi. When the woman consumed the food, her condition deteriorated and she fell unconscious.

The accused took the victim to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, and told the doctors that his wife was suffering from food poisoning. The medical staff admitted her to the hospital for treatment. However, after fighting for her life for three days, Sajida Bibi breathed her last.

Meanwhile, a murder plot transpired when the accused brought the victim’s body for ritual purification before the funeral.  The women, who were giving a bath to the deceased, noticed torture marks on her body and green colour froth around the mouth.

This raised suspicion and they informed the police. The officials of New City police station immediately reached the spot and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital for a medical examination.

The initial report revealed that the woman was actually poisoned to death. The police took Zahid into custody and interrogated him. During the course, the culprit confessed to murdering his wife. The police have registered a case against the accused. The police said that the couple used to have arguments over family some dispute and this led to the murder.

Earlier, a man poisoned his wife to death in Faisalabad. The victim’s brother, Muhammad Saleem, submitted a complaint at the police station in which he stated his sister Noreen Kausar, a resident of Ghausia Colony, had tied the knot with Arsalan about two years ago. He added that the couple also had a one-year-old son named Talal.

He maintained that soon after getting married, the couple developed differences and would argue over minor issues. The complainant told the police that on the day of the incident, he was at his house when one of his relatives informed him that Noreen had died.

Saleem stated that he immediately rushed to his sister’s house and found out that she had died after consuming a poisonous substance. The victim’s brother suspected Arsalan of poisoning his sister.
