KARACHI:

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is organising a three-day exhibition of new and rare Quranic manuscripts with the slogan ‘Read the Quran - Lead the World’. It began on Friday.

The manuscripts displayed are centuries old and written by world-renowned calligraphy artists and scholars such as Mashaf Uthmani and Mashaf Imam Nafi. They are dated between the 14th and 16th centuries. About 500 other Quranic manuscripts, translations and exegeses are also on display.

Syed Salamuddin, the collection’s owner, is organising the exhibition. He has spent his life collecting these “treasures”.

Pakistan JI Ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan inaugurated the exhibit at 5 pm, and it will continue till June 12 between 10 am and 10 pm at Idara Noor-e-Haq, Karachi.

Apart from the second day (today) which is reserved for women, the exhibition will remain open for everyone.
