Improving healthcare: Pindi’s hospitals to undergo renovation

RAWALPINDI: A consensus has been reached on renovating the three allied hospitals in the garrison city apart from building a new residential tower in the medical university’s colony.

This understanding was reached between representatives of Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) VC Prof Muhammad Umar at a meeting held recently.

The YDA delegation was led by Dr Shoaib Tarar. According to YDA officials with knowledge of the meeting, contracts of all ad-hoc doctors will be extended while salaries of postgraduate trainee doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) will be released on priority. In this regard, the provincial health minister will approach the finance department.

The meeting also decided to work towards creating a clean and healthy environment for patients in hospitals for which renovation and rehabilitation works will be undertaken in the city’s hospitals.
