Bid to attack Chinese engineers foiled

Security sources reveal that the operation was carried out following a threat alert

QUETTA: The law enforcement agencies on Thursday arrested a suspicious man and recovered weapons, maps and fake number plates from his possession.

The raid was conducted in a compound in Sar-Bandan area of Gwadar district.

According to sources, on information the security agencies launched a search operation in Sar-Bandan area of Gwadar and foiled a bid to attack Chinese engineers working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in the coastal city of Gwadar.

“During the raid one suspicious man was arrested while a large quantity of arms, maps and fake number plates were recovered from the compound kept to target Chinese workers,” sources added.

According to details, a G3 rifle, pistol, a MP 5 rifle, four 3x3 bore rifles, one Kalashnikov, caps of Levies and Coast Guards, forces’ weapons cases, and hundreds of rounds were seized.

Security sources revealed that the operation was carried out following a threat alert that miscreants were planning to attack Chinese engineers working at Eastbay Express Way that was located 500 metre far from the compound.
