KARACHI: The Karachi administration has decided to initiate a campaign to revamp the city. This includes improving the façade of the building by painting them afresh and placing plants in their balconies. It was decided that the entry and exit points of the city’s airport would also be improved through plantation and ‘Welcome to Karachi City’ board be displayed at the entrance.

Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani, who headed the meeting on Thursday, asked concerned agencies to play their part to make the city beautiful and enforce the relevant laws in this regard. The office bearers of Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), who were present in the meeting, showed interest in taking up the task as a service to public.

The campaign will focus on three areas, including old town, downtown and uptown. The meeting also  decided that associations for residents and owners of the buildings would also be persuaded to maintain their buildings and play their role in the campaign.
