K-PCSW denies misuse of funds

Commission says it does not have mandate to release funds to NGOs

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) has dismissed reports suggesting misuse of funds.

In a statement, the commission clarified that it did not have the authority to release funding to non-governmental organisations. It added that the reports had the commission mistaken for Provincial Council for Social Welfare - a council tasked to strengthen NGOs.

Chairperson of the Commission Neelam Toru said the KPCSW had been striving for improvements in the status of women and girls across the province. She condemned a local news daily for accusing the commission of misusing funds.
