Burnt transformer: Protesters demand replacement

A Pesco official revealed that repair work on the burnt transformer will continue but would take time.

The residents of Chamkani and Wazirbagh have been deprived of electricity for the last eight days due to inoperative transformers. They demanded that Pesco authorities provide a new transformer to Bazaar Ghari Chamkani Mohalla Mochain as electricity supply was disrupted after the existing transformer caught fire.


The residents of Bazaar Ghari said life without electricity in the severe heat that has increased problems for them and their children manifold. The residents, led by former Nazim Wasal Farooq, staged a protest demonstration against Pesco, demanding a new high voltage transformer for Mohalla Mochain Chamkanai.

A Pesco official revealed that repair work on the burnt transformer will continue but would take time.

They said that consumers on the Mohalla Mochian transformer are increasing everyday and the fire was due to overloading. They said that direct hooks are also a major reason for the increased load and urged people to cooperate.
