Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas are officially married

Festivities kicked off with a mehendi and the couple exchanged vows in the evening according to Christian customs

MUMBAI: The wedding season is upon as all. While fans are still gushing over pictures of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh as a married couple after they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy just a few weeks ago, it's time to gear up for yet another Bollywood bash. Superstar Priyanka Chopra who announced her engagement to Nick Jonas kicked off her wedding festivities with a haldi and mehendi ceremony.

Sharing images from the event, the Don star wrote, "One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other's faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was amazing."

Priyanka continued, "An important part of the pre wedding rituals for the girl in an Indian wedding is the mehendi. Once again, we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed."

The former Miss World looked like a vision as she wore a multi-hued organdy ensemble designed by none other than Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. On the other hand, her groom Nick also sported a kurta by the same designer.

Family and friends of the couple which included Parineeti Chopra, Sophie Turner and many others were also spotted having a ball.

Later in the evening, Priyanka and Nick made their vows to each other in a traditional Christian ceremony. The wedding was officiated by the groom’s father, Paul Kevin Jonas at Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan palace. The couple and other members of the wedding party wore outfits designed by Ralph Lauren, the design house said on its Twitter account.

Priyanka and Nick are due to have a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony later today and host a reception in New Delhi next week.
