Human rights: ‘Silas’ screened at UNIC

ISLAMABAD: Silas, a film on community rights was screened on Friday as part of a 16-day International Film Festival on human rights arranged by United Nations Information Center (UNIC) in Islamabad.

Highlighting human rights through cinematography, the UNIC arranged the film screening in collaboration with the European Union to celebrate 70 years of Universal Declaration of Human Rights while 27 thematic documentaries will be screened in Gujrat, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Mardan, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Swat till December 10.

Directed by Hawa Essuman and written by Anjali Nayar, Silas is the story of a Liberian activist named Silas Siakor, a tireless crusader against illegal logging and a symbol of resistance for a new generation. The environmental activist Silas puts his heart and soul into fighting for community rights and exposing corruption.
