KARACHI: Federal Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal inaugurated the “Velocity Measuring System” at Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) stall at IDEAS 2018. It is a system to measure the velocity of rounds fired (2 to 20mm calibre).

It can measure both individual as well as burst shots. It has been designed to detect various bullet calibres passing through a larger detection area.

It measures the velocity accurately in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its detection velocity range is 50 to 1,600 metre/second. It also has a special feature of measuring the rate of fire in the range of 100 to 3,000 rounds per minute.

This feature is important to determine the quality of bullets and efficiency of the weapon system.

The federal minister lauded the achievements of POF and praised its research and development (R&D) team for developing the latest system for Pakistan Army.

Earlier, the minister was received by POF Board Chairman Lt Gen Sadiq Ali at POF stall and briefed about the capabilities of POF and the details of the newly developed POF products launched during IDEAS 2018.

The federal minister expressed satisfaction over the performance of POF and congratulated its team.

She hoped that POF would continue to equip the Pakistan Armed Forces with latest defence products in the days to come. The minister assured that the government would continue to support POF in their R&D projects.
