PM's advisor urges use of modern tools to tackle corruption

Arbab stresses rotation of officers on posts for more than three years

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Establishment Shehzad Arbab has urged all government departments involved in public service delivery to ensure placement of modern tools and apparatus to eradicate corruption from public sector entities.

The adviser said this while chairing a meeting on anti-corruption drive as part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s 100 day agenda and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of zero tolerance against corrupt practices in government departments.

The meeting was attended by secretaries and representatives of Ministries of Interior, Communications, Overseas Pakistanis, Petroleum Division, Power Division, Housing and Works, Federal Board of Revenue, National Highway Authority (NHA), and Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The representatives updated the meeting about short and long-term plans to curb corrupt practices and ensure transparency and accountability in their respective departments.

Arbab also directed for turning to smart solutions and expeditious implementation of modern technologies like e-filing, e- billing, online procurement system, online complaint redressal by all the departments to ensure transparent, efficient and speedy service delivery to the people of the country.

He also emphasised on rotation policy for officers and staff holding their posts for more than three years especially the ones having public interface must be implemented in letter and spirit.

Referring to the on-going country wide anti- encroachment drive, the advisor said strong political will of the government has been the hallmark behind the successful anti-encroachment campaign and electricity anti- theft drive.

Concluding the meeting, Arbab directed all the departments having public interface to share tangible results and achievements in the anti-corruption drive in a weeks as part of 100 day plan.
