10-year-old Muslim girl finds 'threatening' notes in her school cubby

School admin apprises police who are now investigating the incident

Police officials in Massachusetts are investigating an incident in which a 1o-year-old Muslim girl found two threatening and racist letters in her cubby at school, BuzzFeed News reported.

The fifth-grader found a note in her storage bin that read, "You're a terrorist," and also included her last name, Boston 25 reported.

A couple of days after the first note, the girl discovered another note that said, "I will kill you".



The school administration thereafter contacted the police who are now investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, said Robert Tremblay, the superintendent of the school, in a letter to the community on Tuesday.

The school district is also conducting an internal probe on the matter.

After the first note, the school principal held an open circle with all the students and apprised them of the incident. She said that it would be upsetting for any student to receive such a note, but “sending that to a Muslim student is a hate crime.”



School officials commented that the police are trying to identify the author of the notes.

Tremblay concluded that this is a problem we have to take a stand on and address.
