Milestone: Express 24/7 pens contract with US TV channel

Pakistan’s only English news channel Express 24/7 has recently signed a barter agreement with North America’s leading non-profit Television network Link TV.


Link is the United States’ first nationwide television network dedicated to providing Americans with global perspectives on news, events and culture. Link broadcasts a 24-hour mix of uncompromising documentaries, international news analysis programmes and diverse cultural programmes to over 32 million US homes. Link’s original programs are distributed to more than 174 cable stations, reaching an additional 20 million households.

Audience research indicates that there are more than 5.8 million regular satellite viewers of Link TV.

Link is launching a weekly programme Link Asia, a 30-minute slot, in partnership with Express 24/7 on June 10, 2011. It will give Express 24/7 a viewership of 52 million US homes.

Other partners of Link TV are Al Jazeera, Japan’s NHK & Nippon TV and world’s leading documentary producers and news networks.

Waseem Bhanji, on behalf of the Express Group, helped with the agreement, which was signed by Wahid Abbasi, country coordinator of Link TV in Pakistan.
