PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has approved the revision of charges of fee to special public prosecutors and pauper counsels. On account of inflation and devaluation of the Pakistani Rupee, the Home & Tribal Affairs Department proposed the rationalisation of fee charges for engagement or hiring of legal practitioners, which were previously fixed at Rs150 per day for public prosecutors and Rs660 per case for pauper counsels in 1984. The chief minister has increased these to Rs500 per day and Rs4000 per case for special public prosecutors and pauper counsels respectively on the recommendations of Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights and Finance departments, which will have financial implications of Rs17.80 million annually.
