Saleh warns negligent public officials of strict action

PISHIN: Balochistan Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhootani has warned that strict action will be taken against public officials who are not fulfilling their duties.

This came during a visit to Pishin on Sunday where he was briefed about the state of cleanliness and progress of municipal corporation.

The minister arrived on the invitation of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Haji Asghar Khan Tareen.

Provincial assembly member Asghar Khan Tareen, Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Aurangzeb Badiyani, Local Government Director Sabir Tareen, Chief Officer Ataullah Bazai and Mohab Tareen accompanied the minister.

On the occasion, the JUI Tehsil Ameer Moulvi Azizullah Hanfi Baz, Muhammad Kakar Naimat, Lala Naik Muhammad, Moulvi Ubaidullah, Moulvi Ahmed and Imran Khan apprised the minister of the cleanliness situation in the city.

New system for local bodies in the making, conference informed

The minister was dismayed on the environment in the city and said “there is garbage at many places in the city”. He asked “if the municipal corporation staff cannot pick up trash then for what are they drawing their salaries.”

“We will not let the public’s money be wasted”.  Saleh vowed that those involved in corruption and embezzlement will be exposed and taken to task.

He revealed that the former chief officer was suspended because he was not working and warned that the incumbent chief officer would also be suspended if found guilty of negligence.

Expressing lack of satisfaction on the cleanliness situation in Pishin and its suburbs, the provincial minister said that the district received millions of rupees for maintaining cleanliness but the ground reality was contrary to the facts.

He said that on the complaints being received against the local bodies from different districts, an inquiry committee headed by Director General Akhtar Baloch has been constituted.

This team is touring all the districts and will soon tour district Pishin Municipal Corporation and district council and will obtain details about the legal and illegal works.

Showing regret, he said that the public money was not being spent on the public. He also said that they will support those who have been sidelined.

He said that the tenure of the current municipal system is nearing its end and the money that had not been spent will be used appropriately.

He also pointed out that there are loads of issues in the Quetta metropolitan and complaints were being received while the conditions over there were also not good.

Saleh has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Pishin to complete all development projects of the municipal corporation and submit a report soon. In this regard, he has asked the deputy commissioners all over the province to keep an eye on the projects.

He warned that action will be taken against those officials who were negligent in their duties.

Saleh pointed out that after coming to power he first of all toured Pashtun areas. He reminded that Balochistan was the province of all and serving without any bias was his first priority.
