145 police personnel transferred out of home districts

Move comes after IG's directive to implement police rules as per SHC’s October, 2012, order

HYDERABAD: Following Sindh Inspector-General of Police Dr Kaleem Imam's directives, the Hyderabad Range police have transferred 145 inspectors and sub-inspectors (SI) out of 223 in the Range from the districts of their domicile to other districts.

Hyderabad DIG Naeem Ahmed Shaikh issued an order in this regard on Tuesday.

On October 23, the IG directed the Karachi AIG and DIGs of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Nawabshah and Larkana ranges to implement the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench's October, 2012, order regarding the postings of police officials.

"It has been observed that inspectors and sub-inspectors have been posted in their home districts," the letter noted. "... this is violation of [the] Police Rules."

The IG asked the DIGs to ensure prompt compliance within seven working days along with submission of the compliance report to his office. "... and a certificate may also be furnished by the district SSP that no inspector or SI is working in their home district."

Among those transferred out of their home districts in Hyderabad range's nine districts, 22 are inspectors and 123 SIs, including six lady SIs.

Six of the 22 inspectors were posted in Hyderabad, three each in Matiari, Badin and Dadu districts, two each in Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro and Tando Muhammad Khan and one in Thatta district.

Likewise, 43 SIs have been transferred from Hyderabad, 33 from Dadu, 16 from Matiari, six each from Jamshoro and Thatta, five each from Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan and four each from Badin and Sujawal.

Among the six lady SIs, three were working in Hyderabad, two in Tando Allahyar and one in Dadu.

As many as 60 inspectors and SIs working on non-field and clerical assignments and 12 in the Reserve police have been exempted from the transfers. Another six have been exempted on health grounds.
