Why Priyanka chose Nick as her life partner

36-year-old actor is excited about starting a new chapter of her life with the 'Levels' singer

Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra is all set to tie the knot with beau Nick Jonas before the end of the year. The two were first spotted together at the MET Gala in 2017. Since then, they have been seen hanging out with each other multiple times that sparked rumours of them dating. Priyanka and Nick got engaged in July but only announced it in August after holding a traditional roka ceremony in India.

Priyanka, Nick wedding pushed to December

While they haven't told their fans about their wedding dates, insiders have revealed that the couple will be getting hitched before the end of the year. And it seems like the reports are true because Priyanka just had her bridal shower in New York this weekend at a Tiffany and Co store.

While the couple has been spotted together various times, they haven't really spoken to the media about their relationship. Nick only discussed his love life on Tonight with Jimmy Fallon and at an event held in New York recently, the Bajirao Mastani actor also revealed some details of their whirlwind romance.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Priyanka stated that it was Nick who first approached her. She said, "I actually didn’t make the first move, Nick did. He texted me. The first time was a text and just saying, ‘I think we should connect,’ and whatever and that’s how we started talking."

Adding why she chose the Levels singer to be her life partner, the 36-year-old star shared, "What I always wanted in a life partner was someone who respects you. By that, I don’t mean makes coffee for you but someone who respects the hard work you put into your life. Someone who understands that if his work is important, so is yours. Someone who makes choices that are important to him but also keeps your opinion in consideration. That’s respect and it's an incredible thing to have in any relationship."

The Andaaz actor mentioned that having a bond of trust is of utmost important as well. She explained, "In a relationship, everything becomes easy because you give each other credit for your intelligence. You give each other the benefit of the doubt because you trust each other. There’s so much that comes out of that. I think no one should settle for anything less than that."

Priyanka also spoke about her wedding and all the excitement that she is feeling while starting a new chapter of life. "This is such a wonderful new step in my life and I’m still getting used to it because it’s obviously been a whirlwind and I haven’t seen myself happier. Just being in the whole situation of finding somebody who can be a partner to you in so many more ways than one is amazing, so yes I’m very excited."

Priyanka and Nick are rumoured to tie the knot in India on December 2. Their wedding will comprise of both, Indian and American customs. The couple is looking forward to starting a new phase of their life with each other.
