According to details, Esa Khan was going on foot to a check post in Safi tehsil for duty when a remote-controlled IED explosion claimed his life.
Security forces reached the spot and shifted Esa to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Earlier in the day, four soldiers of Levies force were injured in an IED attack on the convoy of a tehsildar, who remained unhurt, in Bajaur district.
A Bajaur district administration official confirmed that Tehsildar Haseebullah was travelling to Kamangara Nawagai, when a remote-controlled IED, planted by the roadside, exploded near his convoy.
“Four Levies personnel were injured while the tehsildar escaped unhurt,” he added.

Security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A search operation was launched to hunt down the culprits behind the attack.
The injured were identified as Riaz, Ismail, Abdul Samad and Suleman. Riaz and Ismail were shifted to Peshawar for treatment as they were said to be in critical condition, while the remaining two to District Headquarter Hospital Khar.
Later, Bajaur DC Usman Mehsood imposed Section 144 in the tribal district.
“On receiving terror threats, a month-long Section 144 has been imposed to avoid any untoward incident,” an official notification stated.
“There is a complete ban on holding public gatherings and rallies. Strict action will be taken against those found violating the orders,” it added.
