The woman’s mother-in-law, a resident of Shehzad Colony, told Express News that she brought his pregnant daughter-in-law, Sajida, to the hospital after she went into labour. But instead of admitting her, the staff and doctors asked her to bring admission slip and Sajida’s ultrasound report.

“My daughter-in-law was suffering from labour pains and despite my efforts to admit her, the hospital staff refused to do so,” she maintained. “I had no other option but to lay her on the hospital ground where she gave birth to a baby surrounded by people,” she added.
Later, after hearing the woman’s screams, doctors transferred both the child and mother to the labour room.
The woman’s relatives staged a protest demonstration against the hospital staff’s negligence and demanded the Punjab health secretary to conduct an inquiry into the incident and award punishment to those responsible.

When contacted, Teaching Hospital Medical Superintendent Gul Hassan Shah denied the allegations and said that the woman gave birth to the baby before getting an admission slip. He added she was provided treatment as soon as she reached the health facility and both the baby and mother were in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Tahir Khursheed had ordered an inquiry into the incident. He said that strict action will be taken against those involved in negligence.
