Spanish shows paved their way into Netflix with the crime-series Narcos. After Pablo Escobar's life story became one of the biggest shows of all time, Spanish thriller La Casa de Papel has proven to be one of this year’s most bingeable shows to date.

Titled Money Heist in English, the foreign drama is currently streaming on Netflix with two seasons.

The first two installments revolve around a scattered group of individuals involved in a heist, printing billions of euros with a strategic plan. Since it was released on the streaming site, it has gained a huge global audience and is the most watched non-English series ever on Netflix.

Once its two seasons finished, it was uncertain whether Money Heist would be renewed. In recent news, Netflix has confirmed that the show will indeed return with the third season.

It is yet to be announced how many episodes will be included in the upcoming run. Originally supposed to be a mini-series, the season two finale left fans wanting more.

Speaking at the announcement last month, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix said, “With over 100 European projects launching this year, we are committed to being a voice for European entertainment.”

Unfortunately, an official release date has not been announced by the streaming giant. However, they have confirmed it will be in 2019. The latest season will see El Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) in charge again but the elite criminal gang will be undertaking different heists.

According to Netflix, “After the global success of Part one and two of the Spanish heist sensation, the Professor will develop new heists that will be unveiled in 2019.”

Most of the core cast is expected to return including protagonist Tokyo, who will be once again played by Úrsula Coberó. A video released by Netflix on Thursday, October 25, 2018, shows the cast about to start a table read for season three.

They also introduce brand new cast members who are joining the series including Hovik Keuchkerian, Najwa Nimro, Fernando Cayo and Rodrigo de la Serna.

The video confirms that original cast members will also be returning. There is no trailer yet as it’s still early days in production. Season three of La Casa de Papel is currently in production.
