ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fehmida Mirza has said strong international cooperation is a prerequisite to tackle the issues of illicit financial flow and climate change under the Paris Agreement.

In a statement after representing Pakistan at the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit in Brussels, she emphasised the importance of close cooperation between Asian and European countries to confront mutual challenges and threats.

The minister reiterated Pakistan’s determination to play an active role for a cleaner, greener, fairer, just and a more prosperous world.

She said importance must be given to the long-standing disputes on United Nations agenda to promote regional peace and stability. She added Jammu and Kashmir remains the single largest obstacle to durable peace in the region.

Earlier on Friday, the minister met French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the summit.
In her address on Oct 18-19, Fehmida said that the continents must work together to tackle the issue of Islamophobia to endorse an open, fair and equitable trading system.
