Formula one: ‘Bahrain decision a mistake’

The decision has received widespread criticism by human rights campaigners and local activists.

BERLIN:

Former Formula One president Max Mosley joined the growing list of people opposing the decision of racing in Bahrain this season, warning that the sport would pay a heavy price for it. The FIA, which Mosley headed until 2009, announced on Friday that the Bahrain Grand Prix, initially scheduled for March but postponed due to political trouble, has been reinstated for October 30.

The decision, sought by the country’s rulers, has received widespread criticism by human rights campaigners and local activists.  “The decision to hold the race is a mistake which will not be forgotten and, if not reversed, will eventually cost Formula One a lot,” said Mosley.
