The city police conducted raids at two alleged brothels and arrested six men and four women for their involvement in “immoral activities”. Police said the action was taken on complaints received from the neighbours.
In the first raid in I-8/3, the Industrial Area police stormed a house allegedly being run as a brothel. Police arrested five people including a woman from the scene, while many others managed to escape.
Karamat Shah, Muhammad Gulfam, Samiullah, Ghulam Qasim and Ayesha were arrested for their alleged “immoral activities”. Police said the men were involved in prostitution. They added they also recovered bottles of liquor and weapons from the house.
In another incident, the Shahzad Town police raided a house in Ali Pur, in the outskirts of the city, on Friday night. They arrested five people including three women from the house.
Police said they were informed by people of the area that the occupants of the house were involved in prostitution as every night strangers used to visit them. The residents tipped off the police on Friday night that a raid would catch the occupants “red-handed”’. A police team raided the house and arrested Muajjat Hussain, Nadeem Abbas, Zakia Shahid, Salma and Farha. Police said the two men were pimps who were involved in “supplying girls” to the brothel.
The suspects were produced before a judicial magistrate who sent the men to jail on judicial remand while the women were granted bail.
Meanwhile, in an action against outlaws, police arrested six suspected members of a gang, Atif, Shahid, Raza, Yousuf, Ayub and Shahzad, involved in thefts.
Fifteen others were arrested for muggings, burglaries and bootlegging. Police recovered four pistols and 36 bottles of liquor from the possession of the arrested suspects.
