Mohajir Qaumi Leagues condemns Shehbaz’s arrest

The central president has serious reservations over the process of accountability

LAHORE : Mohajir Qaumi League on Tuesday condemned the arrest of Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif.

The party conducted a meeting in its central secretariat, which was attended by party’s central President Captain (retd) Raees Chairman Fareed Khan Secretary General Younis Qamar Professor Farhan Ahmad.

The central president said that they supported the steps of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to root out corruption but have serious concerns over the process of accountability. “We cannot permit political victimisation in the guise of fighting corruption,” he added.

He said that they want the entire accountability process to be transparent and demanded reforms in the accountability laws. He added that there must be a difference between NAB custody and illegal detention.
