Drug pusher gets seven-year jail term

SARGODHA: Additional Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Ranjha awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment to a man over his involvement in drug-trafficking.

The court sources said that Jhaverian police had arrested a drug pusher Samar Hayat during a raid at a hide-out and seized two kilogrammes of hashish from his possession.

The police registered a case against him and presented a challan in the court. After analysing evidence and recording statements, the judge awarded him seven years rigorous imprisonment.

The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs35,000 fine as penalty. The convict was shifted to District Jail Sargodha. Earlier, a drug trafficker was convicted by a sessions court in Sialkot. District and Sessions Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain Awan awarded two-and-a-half years imprisonment with a fine of Rs12,000 to accused Zahid. The accused was involved in smuggling narcotics.
