While speaking to Express News, the victim’s father, Waqar Rasool, said he and his family brought his daughter to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital with fever.
The doctors examined her and administered an injection. Waqar pointed out that they asked the doctor not to give an injection as the girl was not seriously ill.
However, he said the doctor did not listen and gave the injection to the girl. “After a few minutes, her condition deteriorated and she died,” the father recalled.
The victim’s father and other family members protested against the incident and shouted slogans against the hospital staff. They demanded that authorities bring the culprit to justice and hand down an exemplary punishment.
Meanwhile, the medical superintendent of the health facility took notice of the matter and ordered an inquiry.
On September 26, a two-year-old boy died after being given a wrong injection at a private hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
The victim’s father, Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Basti Imam Nagar, said he and his family brought Ali Murtaza to Dr Khalid Hospital with minor pain.
After waiting for a while, the doctor examined his son and administered an injection to him. Ghafoor said that his son’s condition deteriorated and he later died.
