Actors Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed's Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, will hit screens next week and is said to be the "most violent" Marvel release. Talking to MTV, Hardy shared details about the film, which was initially rumoured to be R-Rated.

“To be fair, the [‘Venom’ property] can fulcrum into R-Rated and fulcrum into youth or children,” the 41-year-old said.  “My littlest ones watch Spider-Man and Venom quite comfortably and Venom toys and LEGO appear. So it’s not like they’re scared by him, and at the same time there’s a lot in the real estate that you can actually imbue with a complete sense of gratuitous ultra-violence if you really wanted to. I think you’ve got the right people for that job if you want to push it because that’s where I’d love to go with it.”

When asked about entering the Marvel Comic Universe (MCU), Ahmed joked that a Venom/Avengers crossover would result in the villain trying to eat the Hulk. More seriously, Hardy mentioned he is not considering joining the MCU as a permanent figure.

“If we don’t crossover, we’re more than happy to stand alone,” the Legend actor said. “We have a Venom-verse and 900 characters to play with.” The director of the film, Ruben Fleischer however, is all praises for the protagonist.

“Tom is an all-time great actor, just so inherently talented and captivating on film. He’s a real movie star, and he is in his prime right now, firing on all cylinders, and brings so much to every look, every moment, every detail, every word. He’s just really inspiring," Fleischer said.

"And I think everybody on the crew is just fully invested in how he’s chosen to realise Eddie Brock. And on top of all that, Tom is hilarious, and that was exactly what we needed to bring Venom to life for movie-goers.”
