Anti-state activities: Hayat Preghal granted conditional bail

Although the government can cancel his bail if he violates any of the conditions levied by the court

ISLAMABAD: A single member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Aamer Farooq, granted post-arrest bail to Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activist Hayat Preghal on the condition that he surrender his passport to the court, have his name placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) while the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would monitor all his activities on social media.

The government can move an application to have his bail cancelled if they can determine whether he has any ties with any “proscribed” organisation. Moreover, his bail could be cancelled if he violates any of the conditions levied by the court.



While seeking his bail, Preghal’s lawyer, Dr Babar Awan, opposed contents of the first information report (FIR) registered against Preghal and argued that his client was innocent and had been wrongly implicated in the case.
