ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan on Monday informed the Senate that no such report exists that declares Balochistan as the poorest province in the world.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice about the report of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) according to which Balochistan has been declared as the poorest province in the world, he said that no such report exists.

The minister said that UNDP worked with the previous government in 2016 and some figure was published by a daily newspaper in 2018 about the various areas.
“It is not true that a report declaring Balochistan as the poorest province exists,” he added.
The minister said that Aghaz Haqooq Balochistan package was announced by the PPPP government and since then previous governments released billions of rupees for development of the province under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
He said that more efforts would be made by the incumbent government for the development of the province and rumours on the way of development would be countered.
