KARACHI: The budget session of the Sindh Assembly scheduled for today (Monday) is expected to be an uphill struggle as the opposition has decided to deal with the Pakistan Peoples Party with an iron fist.

The united opposition intends to raise an uproar over the huge cuts in development projects by the Sindh government, the misuse of government funds by the PPP for the last decade, corruption and favouritism. The demands to be presented in the House by the government are also expected to face opposition.

Sources in the Sindh Assembly have said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has done its homework for today’s budget session. The party had earlier given 29 of its Sindh Assembly members the task of touring all the districts  to examine the health and education facilities and the cleanliness situation in the districts.

The PTI lawmakers were also directed to take pictures and make videos of the poor provision of civic facilities to present it as evidence during the assembly session.

PTI MPA Arsalan Taj recently visited Kamber Shahdadkot and other nearby towns to inspect various hospitals, fire brigade stations and schools in the area. He will present his report to the provincial leadership of his party and Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

Similarly, PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with a delegation of his party, toured Tharparkar and Umerkot districts. The delegation included Dr Imran Ali Shah and Dua Bhutto. It examined the situation arising due to the drought in Thar and the issues being faced by the public in detail. The delegation will present its findings in the House during today’s session.

Meanwhile, the Grand Democratic Alliance has said that though the PPP has a clear majority in the numbers’ game, GDA will not remain silent over PPP’s corruption in the province for the past 10 years. The GDA also vowed to raise its voice against PPP’s favouritism and misuse of government resources.
