Family protests over alleged fake encounter killing
CTD arrested Hamdan on December 29; his mother states it was an enforced disappearance before being killed

The family of Hamdan Baloch, who was killed in what police described as an encounter with the CTD, staged a protest outside the Karachi Press Club, alleging that he was murdered in a fake encounter and that authorities were refusing to hand over his body. Addressing a press conference, Hamdan's mother, sisters and other relatives claimed that he had been subjected to enforced disappearance before being killed.
According to the family, Hamdan, son of Muhammad Ali and a resident of Golimar, was picked up by CTD personnel from Dhobi Ghat Bridge on December 29, 2025. They alleged that his detention was never formally acknowledged and termed it a case of forced disappearance.
They said that on January 6, the CTD held a press conference claiming to have arrested Hamdan and others from Raees Goth on suspicion of affiliation and facilitation for a banned militant organisation, levelling serious terrorism charges against him. The family rejected the allegations as false and fabricated.
