RAHIM YAR KHAN: In what seems to be an honour killing case, a woman was allegedly shot dead in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday, Express News reported.

A police official said that Shamim Bibi, a resident of Moza Chak Dhanwani, had befriended a resident in the area, Khuda Bakhsh.

He added the woman’s husband Sajawal had suspicions over the nature of the friendship.

He pointed out that on the day of the incident, the woman went to nearby fields to meet Khuda Bakhsh. In the meantime, Shamim’s husband, father and other family members came to know about the matter. “The woman’s husband and other relatives rushed to the spot and allegedly found them together,” the official maintained.

However, Khuda Bakhsh managed to escape from the spot, he said. The official mentioned, “Out of sheer frustration, Sajawal opened fire on his wife, killing her on the spot and fled the scene.”

Police said that after conducting initial investigations and recording the statements of witnesses, it was revealed that the woman’s family members had allegedly found the couple together and had therefore killed her. However, a case had been registered against six culprits and raids were being conducted to arrest them.

Earlier, a man gunned down a person whom he suspected of being his wife’s friend in Shah Sadar Din Town, Dera Ghazi Khan.
