Suspect manages to escape with AK-47

PESHAWAR: A driver of Regi Model Town police station was gunned down when an arrested suspect snatched his AK-47 and opened fire at him Saturday afternoon.

Talking to The Express Tribune a police official said that an ice dealer had been arrested by the police and was being shifted to the Regi Model Town police station when he snatched the driver’s AK-47 and opened fire, killing the police driver Arif on the spot.

The suspect managed to escape with the AK-47 and the police began a search operation in order to re-arrest him. “The slain driver Arif was a resident of Bakhso Pul and was serving as mobile driver,” claimed the official while talking to The Express Tribune.

“A search operating is underway. The suspect’s arrest is part of a large scale crackdown against the ice drug which is being supplied to universities and colleges,” he said.
