Labourers faint at SITE factory

HYDERABAD: Thirteen labourers fell unconscious while off loading bags of chemical from a container in a closed factory in SITE area Kotri, Jamshoro district, on Monday evening. They were taken to Liaquat University Hospital’s emergency ward.

According to Haroon Ahmed, one of the labourers, the contractor who employed them did not provide any safety kits. He stated that while off loading the bags, they experienced burning sensations in their bodies and their throats choked after which they fainted. SHO Munawar Ali Chandio informed that the factory in question is listed as a closed unit in the records but a private contractor was using the facility.
