Dangerous workplace: Chiniot factory blast kills four

Four workers were killed when a stone crushing factory collapsed after an explosion in its warehouse.

Four workers were killed on Wednesday when a stone crushing factory collapsed after an explosion in its warehouse. Two more workers were injured in the incident.


The blast took place in the warehouse of Shaheen Industry, a stonecrushing factory in nearby hills, near the Sarmurad Wala link road, about 45 kilometres away from Faisalabad on the Lahore-Chiniot Road.

The explosion was said to have been caused by explosive material used for quarrying which was kept in the warehouse in violation of safety rules.

Rescue workers managed to save the lives of over a dozen factory workers.

The deceased were identified as Jaafar Hussain, Mubasshar Hussain, Muhammad Aslam and Nasir Ali.

According to reports, the explosive material was stored in the warehouse against the factory’s said protective procedure.

No case had been registered till the filing of this report.
