ISLAMABAD:

The Motorway police chased down a vehicle for over-speeding, only to recover an unconscious man with his hands tied behind his back.

According to National Highways and Motorway Police, two patrolling officers Muhammad Ijaz and Tassawur Abbas, detected an over-speeding Toyota Vitz near Pindi Bhattiyan.

They signalled the driver to stop but were ignored, which prompted them to chase the car. The two officials were fired upon from inside the Vitz. This prompted them to call a patrol up ahead to help them with the chase.

Soon after, they found the Vitz abandoned on the side of the road. The occupants had escaped, taking advantage of the night. The police found a man lying inside the car, unconscious and with his hands tied behind his back.

The man, Muqaddas, was taken to the police camp where he was given first aid treatment. He told the police he is the Chairperson of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed International Action Committee, a non-governmental organization. He was kidnapped on May 26 and his abductors were demanding Rs10 million in ransom from his family. He identified two of the four suspects as Ishtiaq Hussain and Tassaduq Hussain, both from Gujrat.
