PM Imran concerned over Karachi's water woes

The premier also expressed his concern over the water issues faced by Karachi citizens and emphasised on enhanced coordination between federal and provincial governments for co-funded projects.

The prime minister was informed that Karachi is facing a water shortage of 573 million gallons per day (MGD) as against a demand of 918 MGD.

PM Imran will review pace of development projects under the federal government's Karachi package. He will also hold separate meetings with the governor and chief minister.

The meeting was also briefed about the federal government funded ongoing development projects particularly Green Line Project (GLP) and the K-IV water supply project.

PM Imran directed that a representative of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) should be included in the GLP board of directors.

According to the PM Imran-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tweet, he will also attend a fund-raising programme for the constriction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam.

Imran-led PTI swept Karachi constituencies in July 25 general polls. It managed to dethrone the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) – the undisputed overlords of Karachi.

According to results issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the party bagged 14 out of 21 National Assembly seats and 22 out of 43 Sindh Assembly seats.
