
A six-week environmental internship programme at the Forman Christian College (FCC) ended on Wednesday.
The World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature-Pakistan Eco-Internship Programme was arranged by the FCC Earth Watch Society.
The programme started on April 16 and consisted of five lecture sessions, two presentation sessions by students and two trips to Changa Manga. Eighty-eight students and four faculty members participated in the programme.
Syed Muhammad Usman Ali, the Earth Watch vice president and the internship coordinator, said that the programme highlighted various environmental issues. An environmental and wildlife photography lesson was also conducted.
It also included a plantation activity at the FCC campus. Over 100 Shisham, Jambul and Neem saplings were planted by the internees as a part of Earth Day celebrations.
A documentary on vulture conservation sponsored by WWF Pakistan was also showcased. Participants were also given training to reuse waste materials.
