QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has finalised a plan to eliminate corruption in provincial development schemes being executed under the Public Sector Development Fund (PSDP).

NAB Balochistan DG Mir Muhammad Irfan Baig presided over a meeting of the NAB reforms committee held at the bureau’s headquarter on Wednesday. The secretary Planning and Development and officials from the Law, Communication and other departments attended the meeting.

The DG NAB Balochistan offered his department’s full cooperation for implementing rules to tackle corruption and thwart political pressure in case of development schemes.

“The incumbent governments at federal and provincial levels are keen to eliminate corruption from the country and no one would be allowed to steal the public money,” the DG said, adding that NAB would make Balochistan corruption-free with the support of all stakeholders.

With regard to the provincial PSDP funds, he said that rules were being violated over many development projects in the province, which was causing delays in the completion of those schemes and affecting the ordinary citizens.

During the meeting, committees were constituted for various departments which would present their recommendations on how to control corruption in development schemes.
