Reforms to help bridge gap between police, public in RY Khan: DPO

Says shooting down criminals will not help

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Numerous police reforms are being made in Rahim Yar Khan while the formulation of community policing has bridged the gap between the police and the public. Over 90 criminals in category A and over 600 in category B have been apprehended in one-month across the district.

This was said by District Police Officer Athar Waheed while speaking to Express News on Sunday.



He said 45 standing orders issued for reforms and departmental developments were being followed in the area. “The standing orders have been issued for every department, including the administration department for the appointment of the SHO, promotion of the constables, transfers, posting system, visits of police stations, monthly inspection, official weapons, establishment of mobile forensic lab in investigation department, cellular detection unit, execution orders for crime scene, search and strike operations and several others.”

Besides, he explained that block meetings and solution of the issues were also included in police reforms. The DPO added, “Shooting down the criminals will not help in achieving the objective.”



He said that a development programme had also been planned for the purpose, for which written recommendations will be sent to the government and high officials. “Hospitals, schools and vocational centre will also be set up in the region after the approval from higher authorities,” the DPO maintained.

Waheed pointed out that those criminals, who wish to surrender, could appear in the police stations and their cases would be reviewed on merit.
