Two young picnickers drowned while swimming at Karachi's Hawkes Bay beach on Sunday, according to Express News.

Authorities say that the two boys were swept away by the strong tides as they had gone for a swim.

Lifeguards recovered the lifeless bodies of the pair after which they were transferred to a nearby hospital, where they breathed their last.

The victims have been identified as Jamal and Ifitihaj -- both residents of  PIB colony on Jail Road.

Karachi's beaches are open, but no swimming allowed, says police

The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to their loved ones.

The government had banned swimming at all beaches, where life guards are on a high alert due to high tides.

Two young friends recently drowned while swimming at Karachi’s Sandspit beach. Faraz, 19, and Osama, 22, were on a picnic trip at the beach along with their friends on the second day of Eid.

Similarly, another youngster, 20-year-old Anwarul Haq, drowned while bathing in the sea at Rehri Goth, while his friend, Hazar Shah survived. Sukkan police officials said the victims were residents of Sherpao Colony in Quaidabad.
