Sindh health minister has thanked the Norwegian government for its $50 million grant and affirmed a commitment to achieve the Millennium Development Goals four and five aimed at the reduction of infant and maternal deaths. Talking to a delegation led by Prof. Sverie Lie, who is actively involved in the Norway-Pakistan Partnership Initiative, Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that the initiative will not be restricted to the 10 selected districts. “We are striving to improve women’s accessibility to well-trained community midwives,” he said. The programme will be completed by 2014.
