KHUSHAB/ RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Rescue 1122 has rescued 2,554 people, while receiving 63,920 calls during the month of August. Of those, 2,421 were emergency calls and 867 were for information purposes.

This was stated by District Emergency Officer Dr Abdul Sattar Babar on Tuesday.

He added that Rescue 1122 officials responded to 689 road accidents, 27 fire cases, 55 crime cases, one drowning incident, 1,366 medical cases and 283 road accidents.

He pointed out that during these road crashes, officials managed to rescue 2,554 patients, providing first aid to 402 on the spot, while 2,092 were shifted to nearby hospitals. He said 60 patients also died in these road accidents.

He revealed that on an average, 78 patients were taken into the emergency on a daily basis. Babar said 689 accidents occurred in the district in August and 855 people were injured in these incidents. He mentioned that 695 of the injured were men and 160 were women.

The district emergency officer said that 358 accidents were caused by speeding, 314 by carelessness, 15 due to wrong turns and one for other reasons.
