ACCA joins campaign to plant 1.5 million trees

The association says it recognises its corporate responsibility and believes in working towards sustainability

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) announced to join the government’s efforts for the Going Green Initiative to plant 1.5 million trees planned on Green Day, which will be celebrated on September 2.



In a statement issued on Saturday, ACCA said it recognised its corporate responsibility and believed in working with private and public sector organisations as well the government to deliver quality services and to promote the best interest of its stakeholders.

“One of ACCA’s core values is integrity and it works in the public interest, treating people fairly and honestly and encouraging other organisations to do the same. ACCA, as a professional accountancy body, promotes transparency and aims to help businesses and organisations realise the growing importance of sustainability,” the statement read.

The statement further highlighted that to minimise the impact on the environment and to save trees, ACCA withdrew paper-based exams and all of the examinations were on computers, in line with the sustainability agenda.



Chairing a provincial meeting held at the Ministry of Climate Change, Adviser to the Prime Minister Malik Amin Aslam said the purpose of the campaign was to encourage people, communities, organisations, business, industry and government to collectively plant trees.
