Dynastic politics has reared its head once more with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) readying for by-polls across one national and nine provincial assembly seats,  Express News reported on Friday.

Former provincial chief minister Akram Khan Durrani's son Nasir Durrani will contest from Bannu NA-53.  The seat has been vacated by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In a similar vein, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak had two provincial assembly tickets allocated to his son and brother. His son Ibrahim and brother Liaquat will contest by-elections from PK-61 and PK-64 on October 14 respectively. Liaquat relinquished a mayoral post earlier to contest the upcoming elections.

PML-N finalises most candidates for by-polls

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser's brother Hakeemullah has submitted nomination papers for PK-44 . Others aspiring lawmakers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), however, have also submitted their nomination papers.  Former provincial minister Haider Ali's nephews Aftab and Sajid Khan are contesting from Swat PK-3.

Filing of by-poll nomination papers commences

PTI K-P South Region president Ali Amin Gandapur's brother Faisal has been allotted a party ticket for Dera Ismail Khan PK-97. PK-99, vacant since the assassination of PTI's Ikramullah Gandapur will see his son vie with Maulana Fazlur Rahman's brother Ubaid. Former Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) K-P vice president Sanaullah Miankhel's brother Fataullah is also contesting from the same constituency.

PK-78 polls, postponed after the assassination of Awami National Party's (ANP) Haroon Bilour, will now see the slain leader's spouse Samar Bilour contest. Her son Daniyal will drive the electoral campaign.
