Unauthorised residences: RDA declares four housing schemes on Chakri Road illegal

Authority puts illegal status on advertisements by the unlicensed schemes

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared four housing schemes illegal on Chakri road, Rawalpindi and directed owners to stop illegal advertisements and developments. Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MPTE) Director Jamshaid Aftab declared advertisements by above mentioned four unauthorised housing schemes as illegal.

RDA under section Punjab Private Housing schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010 issued notices to owners of four illegal housing schemes.

The notice warned them to immediately stop the advertisements otherwise RDA would seal the site offices of the illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi. RDA has advised the general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in any Housing Scheme which is declared as illegal by RDA. Otherwise, they themselves are responsible for their losses.

MPTE Director also requested Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) and PTCL, not to extend services to these illegal housing schemes as its status is illegal. RDA spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan said the RDA Director General Rana Akbar Hayat has directed the MPTE Directorate to take strict action against unauthorised commercial and residential construction activities, booking offices and encroachments without any fear or favour.
