LAHORE: Lahore Division Commissioner Dr Mujtaba Piracha has said it is high time to adopt measures to fight smog as smog season is starting from October 20 and will continue till end of December.

The commissioner said the Section 144 would also be imposed on burning of crop stubbles. He said that crop burning, brick kilns, industries and traffic emissions had been considered main factors in causing smog in Lahore and its adjoining areas.

He said reduced temperature during the period aggravates the smog. He directed officials to form district smog control committees comprising environment, agriculture, industries and police departments to initiate awareness and sensitise the farmers. He said brick kilns would remain closed from October 20 till the end of December to curb smog.
