LAHORE: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA submitted a resolution related to the claim of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) top leadership which vowed to depoliticise the police force. Hina Pervez Butt filed the resolution after DPO Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal was transferred due to the alleged interference of Bushra Imran, the ‘first lady’ of Pakistan.

In her resolution, Butt demanded an inquiry committee probe the matter and deal with the people responsible. She also demanded that the DPO be restored to his previous position.

Butt contended the PTI’s claim of protecting the police department from political interference had fallen flat after the DPO Pakpattan was removed from his post and transferred to another station.

She said it was also regrettable that the chief minister of Punjab forced Gondal to issue an apology to Maneka, Bushra Imran’s ex-husband, even though he was not at fault. When Gondal refused to do so, he was subjected to political victimisation, she said. She added that the act of the chief minister of Punjab has offended police officials as Gondal was forced to apologise.  When he refused, he was transferred. Butt asserted.

She said the DPO is an efficient and loyal police official who was transferred for not apologising to Maneka. She demanded that the House restore Gondal and form an inquiry committee to probe the matter.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Butt asked if there was the naya Pakistan where an efficient and loyal officer had transferred without reason.
