Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan has sought an emergent meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to raise the issue of blasphemous caricature contest in the Netherlands.
“Everyone has the same stance on blasphemous caricatures,” Qureshi said while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday evening. “We will raise the issue at every international forum.”
The foreign minister further said that the measure has been taken in light of the Senate’s unanimous resolution adopted yesterday.
Imran Khan says will take up caricatures issue at UN
On Monday, condemning the competition, Prime Minister Imran Khan blamed the recurrence of such incidents a collective failure of the Muslim world, saying he would take up the matter at the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Khan said that the OIC should have taken up the matter long ago and forged a practicable strategy. But the organsation is yet to wake up to the detestable moves (perpetrated) to hurt the sentiments of the Muslims.
Sentiments mean nothing. Grow up and learn that the world has its own opinions and views, which may not coincide with yours. You can’t punish people for their words or thoughts.Recommend
Really? Is this the priority over the Pakistan’s state of economy? This will annoy more countries which is the last thing Pakistan should do looking at prospects of going IMF for bailout. Recommend
This is important. forget the UN. UN has hypocrites. The OIC has more power then it thinks. All Islamic countries should buycott netherland and see how the results change overnightRecommend
welcome to naya wakandaRecommend
Good move. But merely calling an oic meeting won’t help. Pakistan must expel Netherland ambassador and cut off diplomatic ties. Then other Muslim countries will follow and do the sameRecommend
Another attempt to distract the Pakistani public from serious problems at home!Recommend
Most people are so ignorant to get rid of Old and Stale Pakistan which controls and commands their confused minds. A democratic mind would rather seek a constructive dialogue!
Because of this very undemocratic and obstinate mind, Pakistan came into existence! Because of this very undemocratic and obstinate mind, our society has fractured in millions of pieces!Recommend
Great, we have 365 days in a year, OIC can have time pass emergency meeting every day.Recommend
Would be interesting to see if the OIC gets as worked up over this as the new government is.Recommend
@TooTrue:
try to speak some negative about the holocaust in western countries, you will truly understand what sentiments means!Recommend
You didn’t read the letter written I think, nor the constitution of Holland, which does not allow any one to play with the sentiments of any religion, caste, sect, race etc. you talk on the holocaust and get jailed for it, from where the sentiments drop then??Recommend
The world is not going to stop..Pakistan and OIC need to grow up…Recommend
