QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Ameer Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi has urged the PTI government to focus on country’s development rather than filling United States’ “do more” demand, saying trusting Americans never yielded any positive results for the nation.

Sharing his views on a contrary phone call between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the JI ameer said, “The US, by spreading false information, seeks to mount pressure on Pakistan’s new government. Imran needs to be more careful.

“The US is involved in betraying Muslim countries and committing atrocities against suppressed Muslim nations around the globe. JI’s ‘Go America Go’ rally informed the Muslim world about America’s vicious policies against Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

Despite Pakistan anger US stands by readout, hails Imran-Pompeo contact as ‘good one’

On relations with the US, the provincial ameer said, “The PTI government must proceed ties with Americans on the basis of equality instead of facing more pressure from the Trump administration.”

On corruption in the country, Maulana Hahsmi said, “Former rulers have promoted corruption culture in our society but ironically among 436 corrupt personalities just one has been sentenced to jail which is tantamount to sabotaging efforts against corruption.

“The people of Balochistan have been demanding their due rights from the Centre for last 70 years, but in reply they received false claims which is evident from the fact that none of the regimes healed the wounds of the people of the province.”
